Blues and Rock Musicians Gator and Mudcat
Wayne "Gator" Folse
Wayne
"Gator" Folse is a New Oreleans musical icon, constantly in demand for playing
everything from senior citizens homes (he said they are lively places) to
tailgate parties at the Saints games. He has labored to not only to lift
himself, but his fellow musicians as well. He said he has spent his life
building bands.
His first musical memory is at a tender age he asked his older brother to show him some chords on the guitar, he learned A minor to a point that he chased all the members of the household, playing the chord incessantly. "They realized this is what I liked to do....play guitar." Although his influences were the likes of Clapton, Hendrix etc., he still had an abiding love of the blues. He would listen to Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, etc.. In fact he met Muddy Waters. Gator was walking in the Municipal Auditorium parking lot to get to seats to see Muddy and whoever else. He saw Muddy Waters coming along and went up to him. Gator and a friend talked with Muddy for a few moments exchanging pleasantries, finally Muddy says " I got to go, but I am playing this one for ya'll" Its a story that Gator loves to tell.
